Beatitudes
"..the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." John 1: 17
Jesus went about all of the country of Galilee teaching in the synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom of heaven. Many of his teachings are found in what is known as the Sermon on the Mount which is found in Matthew chapters 5-7. The Beatitudes are the central part of the sermon and are as follows:
- Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their's is the kingdom of heaven.
- Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
- Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
- Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
- Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
- Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
- Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
- Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for their's is the kingdom of heaven.
